I started working as a house dancer at a club in Sacramento, so I could earn quick money to purchase a pony that I didn't want to be sent to auction, and from there an independent agent approached me about modeling for Penthouse... and from there the contract offers came. The rest is history.
What excites you about modeling?
The clothes and the makeup and the sets make it fun to try to reinvent yourself for a day. I love when the photographers get really into the shots and the art of it. The hottest stuff always comes from the days that turn into a joint venture to try something new.
You were a Penthouse Pet of the month, what was that experience like?
It was like crossing a huge item off the bucket list (:
The second I started dabbling in the adult world I knew that I wouldn't rest until I got that cover (:
You appeared on an episode of Family Jewels with Gene Simmons, what was it like to work with him?
He was very gracious with me. When it was all said and done he ordered a giant tray of fruit and called me an angel. It was sweet, especially considering I was still dressed in leather and fishnets from the shoot.
You also appeared on a show about snowboarding called The Block, do you ever snowboard?
That was my first time. It was exhilarating. Then we all stopped for beer at the bottom of the slope. I don't know why I keep remembering the after-set food details.
You're a columnist and blogger, how did you start writing?
I started in 7th grade when I turned in a poem for extra credit after I'd missed a few weeks of school. The teacher liked it and kept encouraging me, so I never stopped.
You were also the host of the 2010 AVN Awards, how did that come about?
I'd like to thank whatever gods were smiling down on me that day. I don't know the politics behind it but I'm quite pleased with the result. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.
You're obviously multi-talented, do you have any other hidden talents we don't know about yet?
I'm quite adept and driving with my knee. I'm just waiting for the rest of the world to start acknowledging the value of it.
Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture?
I think every day they merge a little closer. The crossover is funny to watch. Pornstars are getting more mainstream opportunities, and now mainstream starts like Tila Tequila are coming to the dark side. Hopefully it will soon be one long continuum with no gap to jump.
